Korea Travel

Oh honey, if you’re planning a trip to South Korea, you better add Daejeon to your itinerary. In South Korea? Have a passion for travel? Then get out of Seoul and head to Daejeon! I’ve scoured the city for the top five sightseeing spots that will give you a serious case of FOMO if you skip them. So, let’s get this list started, shall we?

Numero uno, we have Daejeon Expo Park. This massive park is home to some seriously stunning gardens, exhibitions, and sculptures that are sure to make your Instagram feed pop. The park is also home to the World Cup Stadium, where you can catch a soccer game and cheer on your favorite team.

Next up, is the Yuseong Hot Springs. These natural hot springs have been used for centuries for their healing properties and are a perfect place to soak your worries away. Plus, the surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning, with mountains and lush forests providing a serene backdrop to your relaxation.

For some seriously jaw-dropping shopping, head to Daejeon Sky Road. This city street of shops teems with people from all over looking for bargains, boutiques, and and late at night boot calls. Just kidding. You’ll while away the hours traversing the street in search of those cute shoes you know you need to have. When you’re exhausted from shopping, duck into one of the gazillion cafes, restaurants, or bars for a brief respite.

If you’re a culture vulture like me, you won’t want to miss the Daejeon Culture and Arts Center. This massive complex is home to multiple performance halls, art galleries, and exhibition spaces, showcasing the best of Korean art and culture. The building itself looks like the lair of some James Bond villain. Whether you’re into classical music, contemporary art, or traditional dance, you’re sure to find something that tickles your fancy here. And if not you can always pose at the massive star shaped fountain for some truly stunning selfies.

Last but not least, we have the Hanbat Arboretum. This massive park is home to over 1,700 species of trees and plants, making it a lush oasis in the heart of the city. Escape the hustle and bustle of the streets of Daejeon into the trees, grasses and ponds. Flaked by the river you’ll take a leisurely stroll through the gardens, check out the butterfly house, or even ride on the monorail for a unique perspective on the flora and fauna. Whatever you do, don’t miss out.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen! The top five sightseeing spots in Daejeon that are guaranteed to slay your itinerary. So get your butts out of Seoul, pack your bags, grab your KTX ticket , and get ready to experience the best of South Korea has to offer (outside of Seoul). Love you, bitches!
