Korea Travel

South Korea has become a popular travel destination for photography enthusiasts and vloggers as it has lots of picturesque views, stunning cityscapes, and a rich culture that is a joy to capture on film. While Seoul has long been established as a photographer’s paradise, there are lots of other unique and beautiful places outside the city that are sure to get thousands of likes on social media. From an award-winning private lake house to flowery spring landscapes, these are the most Instagrammable places in South Korea.

Poppy Garden, Simhak Mountain, Paju

South Korea is home to some of the most innovative photographers in the world, such as JeeYoung Lee, Lindsay Gary Ryklief, and Hong June Hyung. If you’re a freelance photographer and you’re looking to build a business from your skills, there’s no better place than the country for doing stock, architectural, fashion, or real estate photography. Meanwhile, budding travel cinematographers, film school students, and people who make content for vlogs will love filming the various places and capturing the unique vibe and energy of the locals on camera. To start off your travel vlog in South Korea and for dynamic pictures on your Instagram account, head to the Poppy Garden in Simhak Mountain, Paju.

The poppy fields look like they’re straight out of a Monet painting, and are a must-visit for those who like to take pictures of naturescapes. The best time to visit is in June when the poppies are in full bloom, and you can take part in the annual Poppy Festival that’s organized by the locals. Paju is just an hour away from Seoul, so you can spend the night there if you want to take more pictures the following day, or go straight back to the city after spending time in the poppy fields.

Purple Island in Sinan County

A new destination in South Korea is currently making waves on social media, and it’s a wonderland for people who love the color purple. The Purple Island in Sinan County, which is in the South Jeolla Province, is gaining fans for its amazing lavender fields and purple bridge. Even the residents and establishment owners have joined in on the fun and have painted their properties purple, so everywhere you look you’ll be greeted by the sight of purple houses and vehicles. The roads are also painted in purple, and so are the phone booths and sculptures within the area. Consider renting a bike to easily get around the island as you take pictures and videos of this purple paradise.

Lake 192, Gangwon-do, Chuncheon

Lake 192 in Gangwon-do, Chuncheon became worldwide famous in 2020 after it became the filming location of BTS’ “In The Soop” reality series. Prior to becoming the boy band’s summer playground, the private lake house was awarded the Korean Architecture Award, and was the the site of numerous advertisement shoots in the country. The main house, guest house on the lake, and the private yard present wonderful opportunities for picture-taking, but the lake and the mountains surrounding it are the real stars of this destination. It costs over 1 million won or approximately $975 to stay in the property for one night, so make the most of it, and take lots of pictures and video clips for your social media accounts and vlog.

South Korea is full of amazing places that look wonderful on film and social media feeds. Consider visiting these places to take lovely pictures and videos for your Instagram, and watch the likes roll in!
