Description

We are looking for a talented leader to join the American English Language Teaching team in our mission to bring the very best English language materials to classrooms across the country and around the world.


In this challenging and rewarding role you will manage English language projects from concept development to finished product. You’ll collaborate with other talented and dedicated team members to bring teachers some of the most innovative and important EAP products ever created. Key responsibilities include:


 



  • Work closely with the publisher, publishing manager, editors, authors, design/production, and marketing/sales to ensure successful and timely publications of superior products.
  • Ensure the pedagogical appropriateness of material and provide feedback and comments to authors and editors to ensure the skill (reading, writing, listening, speaking, or grammar) is correctly taught.
  • Hire, train, and manage in-house and freelance development staff as they prepare manuscripts (for print and non-print/media/online materials).
  • Analyze markets and competing products, solicit and analyze reviews, run student and instructor focus groups, provide authors with direction in terms of writing and content organization, edit and oversee content editing, develop illustration programs, create and elaborate sales features, oversee preparation of manuscript for transmittal into production (print or media), and assess need for and manage ancillary materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, and maintain a pool of exceptional freelance development and production editors to handle work that cannot be accommodated in house.
  • Develop and manage the budgets for all individual projects. Allocate resources (internal and external) among all the projects under development.
  • Create and manage project schedules to ensure timely publication of new titles.
  • Make day-to-day decision making and manage multiple key titles and their ancillary materials (print and non print) to ensure that projects are published on schedule and on budget.
  • Work closely with the design/production department to ensure optimal workflow between departments and maintain the highest quality standards.
  • Work closely with marketing and sales departments in the market development and promotion of products.
