KMK: On the Border

Food Restaurants

On the Border. You think of the fascist sun burnt agents patrolling the desert, of course, but I, immediately after that, think of the Tex Mex restaurant. In the past I didn’t think of them at all because I used to get my Tex Mex needs met at the infamous Taco Bell. However, since the Bell is no more in Itaewon, I have few options for quick, crunchy, Tex Mex tacos. The solution? On the Border!

I know what your’re thinking: Brian! On the Border is overpriced and tacky! Yes, this is true. But they also make a huge crunchy taco that doesn’t skimp on the cheese or beef nor do they cram it full of lettuce like some places I could name (you know who you are). So, in the spirit of the gone, but never forgotten Taco Bell, my love of crunchy tacos continues to be satiated.

To do On the Border down and dirty, quick and easy I suggest you mosey right up to the bar. Order the four combo with rice and black beans. Make sure its beef, but I guess there are some weirdoes who actually enjoy chicken tacos, go figure! Then take a seat and enjoy those complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. You can probably devour a bowl or two before your food arrives.  You could probably also finish off a margarita as well but you may have to gulp it down, courting brain freeze, because the food really does come out pretty fast.

If you’re not quite the crunchy taco lover that I am, no worries. On the Border has enough other options for your four combo that you could easily go with chimichangas, enchiladas, or fajitas. The menu is quite extensive. So, if you have that taco itch you need to scratch then On the Border definitely is an option. It’s exactly what you expect so don’t gripe about the lack of authenticity.

Another plus? The On the Border is right in the heart of Itaewon, just where you want to be, right?

The Good: When you just have to satisfy that Mexicana Craving.

The Bad: Price may be a bit steep for some.

The Weird: Corona Margaritas are pretty weird!
