KMK: Hours Western Chinese

Food Restaurants

Sometimes you want what you want no matter how good or bad it is for you. That’s how I feel about Western Chinese food. No, Western Chinese isn’t so entirely authentic, but damn, it sure does taste oh so good. Now, I could go on about the not so new Panda Express in Myeongdong, but I’d rather not. Instead I’ll tell you all about Hours Western Chinese food in HBC’s very own backyard.

Who needs authentic anyway? Does anyone really want authenticity when it comes to Chinese food? I know I don’t and the folks at Hours must be on the same page, because their Chinese dishes remind me distinctly of American mall food courts. Here you’ll find crag rangoon (wontons stuffed with cream cheese and crab), the spicy peanut goodness of kung pao chicken, the citrus sweetness of orange chicken, ginger teriyaki delight of lo mein noodles, and General Tso’s chicken (which is my personal favorite).hours-generalshours-noodles

In my opinion the best way to go about ordering at Hours is to start with the crab rangoon. It’s crispy deliciousness and simple. Of course it’s probably clogging arteries, but hey what isn’t? Next, I’d order the lo mein noodles. The veggie version to help offer up something at least trying to be healthy-ish. Finally, go with the Gereral Tso’s chicken. It’s slightly sweet, spicy and deep fried to perfection.

You can dine in or do take out. Prices hover between 5,000 to 20,000 KRW. Head to Hours and soothe your Chinese food cravings. The space is small, but the folks at Hours make sure their service is top notch. You’ll want for nothing. Also for bright sunny warm days they have an open street side bar where you can sit outside and eat your meal.

The Good: Western style Chinese food

The Bad: Not as perfect as it is back home but it gets the job done

The Weird: When they have sweet and sour soup get it, because it goes fast
