KMK: Thousands Protest South Korean President

Culture Lifestyle

Over the past several weeks thousands protest South Korean President Park Geun-hye. The people have been taking to the streets of Seoul in greater and greater numbers to demonstrate against Korea’s first woman President. She has put up a stonewall of resistance against the calls for her resignation. The controversy exploded when it was uncovered that she’d allowed an old friend to advise her on political affairs.south-korean-protest-1south-korean-protest

That decision may well cost her the presidency as the majority of people in South Korea disapprove of her actions and see it as a scandal upon the entire country. Just a couple weekends ago the streets around city hall filled with marching, chanting, protesters boasting a united front against President Park. south-korean-protest-4 south-korean-protest-3 south-korean-protest-2

Despite the President’s cooperation with prosecutors her friend, Choi Soon-sil, will still be facing indictments as well as two former Presidential aides who have been linked to the whole messy business. Surprisingly, the beleaguered President still has her supporters, though they dwindle by the day, who feel her anti North Korean views far outweigh anything else that may lead the country into the hands of a progressive pro north regime.south-korean-protest-8 south-korean-protest-10 south-korean-protest-7 south-korean-protest-6

Still, it’s unlikely that her friends can save her when her approval rating has dropped to 5% which is a shame because as the first woman President her public shame will undoubtedly be cast upon any future female leaders.

  1. It’s heartening to see so many thousands of people come together for what’s right. Madame President should step down now!
