EDITOR’S NOTE: Looks like Hera’s has closed

Hera’s is a bistro in the Gyeongnridan neighborhood of Itaewon. The place has a distinctly bohemian vibe with slate gray concrete walls with burgundy sofa running along the edges and splashes of yellow, oranges, and reds. Hera’s has a great vibe.

There’s a dj station ready to turn out tunes. The bar seemed fully stock with a list of wines, beers, and cocktails ready to be consumed. It’s good place to meet friends and hang out or ever just spend an afternoon drinking coffee and reading or firing up a hookah.

However, that’s about all I would do because after the meal I had I doubt I would order anything else to eat. I had the bolognese pasta that came way overcooked with veggies that seemed sapped of all nutrients. After that the thought of ordering anything else is harrowing. Still, that’s not to say Hera’s doesn’t have other options.

They often hold Open mic poetry/spoken word events check out the facebook page here. Check out the video from the event. It’s Angélique singing Tracy Chapman’s “Behind The Wall”.

There’s also an occasional Flea Market held on Saturdays, but be sure to check Facebook to make sure it’s happening.
