KMK: Todai Seafood Buffet

Food Restaurants

Todai Seafood Buffet , When it comes to seafood in Korea I’ve been wary. It’s my own fault really. I fell prey to the urban legends of someone’s father’s best friend’s sister who fell ill to some under cook something or other. It also doesn’t help that I have an irrational fear of swallowing fish bones and choking. So, take those two things into account and you’ll see why my seafood experience has been sorely lacking (my trip to Jalgalchi notwithstanding).

Well, I’m ecstatic to give you all the rundown on my weekend seafood buffet adventure at Todai in Myeongdong. The thought of a seafood buffet eased all of my fears. Fillets had to be on hand and I doubt a huge buffet would still be in business if folks were leaving with food poisoning.

My friend Kalli suggested Todai and I didn’t hesitate. Usually, buffets aren’t my thing because I feel I never truly take full advantage of them. However, this time I had my game plan intact to maximize my eating by sampling everything on hand, finding my favorites and digging in. With my strategy in place off I went with Kalli, Lyn, Jodi and Jim to seriously grub on some seafood.

Inside the space is sprawling. They pack the tables in with little island displays manned by chefs carving, frying, baking and generally cooking up a storm. Sushi comes in  a myriad of variations spanning Gunkan to Nigiri while hot entrees include crab, cod, shrimp, spare ribs, udong, scallops, mussels, kingfish, chicken, pike, calamari and a dozen others. Follow that up with soups, salads, desserts and you get the idea.

You can literally spend an entire afternoon eating away to your hearts content. They have a magician on hand to entertain you if you do. At 33,000Won a pop I say bring on the magic and settle in for the long haul. The food is definitely worth it and for that price you definitely want to get your money’s worth. You will.

You can find Todai inside the Noon Square building where the CGV is in Myeongdong. Go check it out and tell me what you think!
