KMK: Socialism is Smurfilicious

Socialism is Smurfilicious

The Korea Times has a great article about writer Marc Schimdt and his take on popular culture and discursive analysis. Using the 1980′s cartoon the Smurfs as one of his examples of how littler used world views, such as socialism, can be applied to today’s popular culture.

It’s an interesting read so check it out and see if you agree or find it a bunch of hooey. I mean, who does Smurfette represent in this socialist utopia? She’s the lone female among hundreds of male smurfs. Is the new age bigamist with her all male harem? And don’t get me started on vanity smurf!
