KMK: Chuseok

Chuseok

Chuseok is one of the biggest National Holidays for Korea. In 2007 it’s on September 25th according to the lunar calendar.
The day is also known as the great day in autumn and is equivalent to the American Thanksgiving Holiday.
People return to their hometowns and give thanks and blessings to their families and ancestors and to the bountiful land.
A special crescent shaped rice cake called songpyeon is prepared especially for the occasion.
This Chuseok I will be in Beijing so I thought I’d better blog about it now. Mark your calendars and get ready!
